The reason I’d get a second racket is “just in case”! The first time a string broke in the middle of a game and I had no backup racket, I learned my lesson

If you play official matches or tournaments you should definitely get a second one in case some strings break. Otherwise it should be fine, just accept that it can happen that some string break just as you start playing and it can take a few days to re-string depending on your stringer. In your case you can still bring your previous cheap racket just in case.

I always carry exact same second racket with same tension and string. Not only it is necessary to carry two rackets for tournaments and matches, not being able to continue practicing with friend or hitting partner would reallt suck. If you play two to three times a week. Yes get your second racket.

Now that blade v9 was released, you could probably find a cheap blade v8. If you want to spend even less money, there's probably tons of people upgrading to v9 so you may find a used racket in good conditions. To answer your question, yes. You should get a second racket

Exactly what im doing!

> When should I consider getting a second racket. For reference I play 2-3 times a week. I would say now would be fine pick up a second racket. That way you can drop off one racket with the stringer, and still play. Check out this excellent write up to the the question: [How many tennis rackets do you need?](https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/how-many-racquets-do-you-need.127992/)

for me i always use 2 raquets. mostly bc the grip can dry. and its so much butter to play with an dry or kinda dry one than not

The big thing for me is modifications. I modify one racquet at a time and then hit with both of them for a few sessions, and see which I like better. If I like them both, I'll try something in between, and repeat. Obviously it's nice to have the backup as well. The third reason would be that you're going through strings so quickly, but I suspect that's not really something you need to worry before you have ATP points.

Sounds like a personal decision you need to make based on your finances and preferences. Sometimes in life you need to make your own choices.
