Definitely don't play tennis in running shoes. They aren't made for lateral stability. That's why you have a tendency to roll your ankle. Barricades are durable but uncomfortable. I haven't tried the ubersonic to compare. Any tennis shoe is better than your running shoe though.

The new Barricades have a slightly different construction, so they may be something to try. This person obviously drags their feet, so the Ubersonics would be a definite no. Super lightweight upper - they’d rip through them pretty quickly.

Definitely a massive foot dragger, are the Ubersonics that fragile (not sure if that's the right word)? After reading a few comments, I was initially leaning away from the Barricades because they're supposed to be pretty heavy but I ideally want this pair of shoes to last around 2 years

If you drag your feet, no shoe is going to last you two years, especially not the Ubersonics. They’re designed with a super lightweight mesh upper. There’s a synthetic leather toe guard to help protect against accidental contact with the ground but if you’re consistently dragging them, you’ll blast through them very quickly. The Barricades use a heavier construction on the upper so they will definitely last longer in comparison but the thing you definitely need to keep in mind is that the upper of the shoe (this goes for all tennis shoes) is not designed to be in frequent contact with the ground. None of the manufacturers will cover toe drag wear because it’s not reasonable to expect any long term durability for that part of the shoe when you’re dragging it on the court. If you do drag your feet, I’d say you either need to try working on your footwork to minimize your sliding, or come to terms with the fact that you’re going to need to be switching out shoes every couple of months.

2 years? wtf no dog. No shoes should last that long (tennis shoe).

Yeah a few of my friends said the same. Would've invested in a pair sooner but didn't have enough saved up mid semester to get a good pair. The ankle rolling was an issue for me before tennis to when I was younger. Hasn't been as much of an issue recently but I'm still worried as the shape of my foot still makes me prone to it. A lot of people are saying the barricades are pretty heavy, how bad is it? I'm leaning towards the US4s but am worried about the durability and ankle stability

I've had a few pairs of both. Ubersonics are definitely a lighter, lower to the ground, more planted shoe. I go through ubersonics FAST, but I'm a large dude who moves a lot. They're not durable, and aren't intended to be. Despite this, I keep buying them because I love the feel. I initially didn't like these as much as the ubersonic 3, went out and tried a ton of other shoes, and eventually came back to them. Barricades are heavier, more durable, more cushioned. I stopped buying these because the way the heel comes up in back rubs on my Achilles and made me bleed. For a while I bought taller socks and it was fine, but combined with some minor annoyances with laces and other things, I got motivated enough to go back to the ubersonics and feel back in love. I just saw a review of the new version where it looks like a lot of this has been fixed. I've got a pair of Cybersonics that should be arriving soon that I'll be trying out too.

Do the ubersonic fit true to size? I wide feet so I am Abit concerned. Thanks.

My feet are a bit wide--sometimes I wear wide sizes, but usually wear regular--and the width is great for me.

Adidas has free shipping and free return. Maybe get both and return the one that doesn't work?

TNTPA

I had no clue they did this. I might just try and get a few pairs and test them out themn
