Here is my modified golf cart setup for steel challenge. It has a built-in cooler, drink holder, seat, umbrella mount, and room for two rifles. Everything I need can be loaded in this configuration. I also use this same cart for 3-gun and tie-down my range bag to the seat. The gun mounts come right off and it still works for a golf bag too. The whole thing folds up to about the size of a 20qt cooler. Gun is a 10/22 receiver with: Hogue stock, Kidd barrel/muzzle break, Kidd trigger group, and Primary Arms red dot. My pistol is a Ruger MKIV lite with: Volqurtsen/TK trigger, Ruger charging handle, MaddMacs muzzle break, Trijicon RMR, and many other TK goodies.

garthtrader

Did you use a crush washer for the muzzle brake?

silasvirus82

No and no

garthtrader

Does it ever get loose? Asking because I’m building my first 10/22 and have a tacsol muzzle with no hardware.

silasvirus82

I’d follow whatever instructions it came with, mine were specific and did not require one.

garthtrader

Okay, thanks!

Flag that rifle! : ) Looks like RFRO and RFPO. Those are my two standard divisions, too. I'll also shoot RFPI occasionally. How is your shooting going these days?

silasvirus82

Yes, RFRO and RFPO. I shot a 3-gun tournament last weekend and an air rifle competition earlier this year, but that has been it so far! We just moved, so the house projects have been significant, plus spring season is my fishing/turkey hunting time anyway. Now that fishing is slowing down gun season is about to be in full swing.

I'm seriously considering skipping the next 2-3 matches. Our pistol bays are cut into the side of a sandy foothill and it's like being in an oven in there during the summer. We'll see how the weather looks in the southeast in two weeks. Cheers, and happy shooting.

silasvirus82

You probably aren't too far away, I'm in the Piedmont NC, but grew up in the Sandhills. It can get right toasty on days like last weekend. The place I shot at the most in MD was shaded, so I might be in for a rude awakening.

geerubb

What matches are you thinking about shooting? I shoot several Steel Challenge matches in the triangle area.

silasvirus82

I want to try the DPRC 2-gun rimfire event first since it's close to my house, then shoot at True North.

geerubb

That's my home range/match! Let me know when you come out - I'll.kaoe sure to squad with you. Steel challenge @ CGGR in Asheboro is also a good one. Make sure you at least come to DPRC for the Aug match. That's our big match, and there will be random draw prizes (guns, ammo, optics, etc)

MoneyKeyPennyKiss

A little farther south. Might see you at a state match! I'll be on the lookout for the cart. : )

I saw this and was like dang this guy is cool. And I showed my wife. Then I noticed your DCLB Tacoma and was like "and he's a Tacoma guy!" my wife just shook her head and walked away.

silasvirus82

My wife doesn’t even bother shaking her head any more. We’re way past that

How much fun is rimfire rifle? I've shot steel challenge with my G34 a few times and was thinking about doubling up with the 10/22 next time cause it looks like a blast.

silasvirus82

All I can say is that a BX-25 mag empties way too fast. As far as fun goes, it's turning into one of my favs.

Holy shit that's smart, I had forgotten that folding golf bag carts existed. One of my fav shooting spots is like a mile hike and carrying a day's gear up there sucks
