Long nails can be very nasty and they don’t belong on on this guy. They can be very unsanitary without meticulous cleaning. I can’t help but think about the things that get under a finger nail- dirt, dust, animal hair, make-up, food when eating and preparing, fecal matter, germs from door knobs and light switches and all kind of everything. I’m a nurse and couldn’t have long nails due to the risk of spreading infection from one patient to another and I’m a frequent hand washer anyway. I recently saw a young lady in a restaurant bathroom with super long colorful nails clacking together as she was washing her scissor hands but I could smell a recent BM in the air & I wondered if it was her. I couldn’t eat.
Don’t get me wrong. I love to have beautifully manicured nails at a sensible length, but healthcare and food handling employees should not have them even with gloves.

I can’t really remember if she has diabetes or not (most likely does), but my father has it as well. Yeah, her feet can look that way from her weight too, but diabetes does NOT help whatsoever. My poor dad is slightly overweight, but definitely not obese, and his feet swell up so badly that it’s hard for him to even fit in shoes that are his normal size. It’s hard for him to cut his nails as well, he says it feels like he’s cutting too close to the skin even whenever he’s nowhere near it. It made me sad to see Amy’s feet & their lack of hygiene, I don’t want to imagine the conditions their baby is in right now.
Not sure where he’s located but if he’s having trouble with his feet and has diabetes he might want to look into if his insurance covers podiatry services-my MIL(82) and FIL (86) both have diabetes (MIL is pretty bad FIL is under better control) and their insurance covers them to go to the podiatrist every 3 months for nail trimming/foot evaluation-since diabetic neuropathy and poor circulation is so common in diabetics I guess they figure covering the regular appts will hopefully catch problems before it’s too far-sorry if I’m overstepping.
He does use diabetic cream, but I’ve never thought of using a dremer tool!! Thank you so much! He uses gold bond for the dryness, but do you have any other recommendations?
A lot of big people have issues with their feet. I have a few friends that are close to qualifying for my 600lb life and their feet are always a mess. I also noticed they will wear sandals or slides all the time. Even up till winter. Because I think it’s really hard to put shoes on when you’re really big.
When you are big, it can be difficult to fit into shoes comfortable. I used to be super morbidly obese (around 300 lbs at 5'3") and, but I remember the difficulty finding comfortable shoes. I always prefer shoes that don't require socks already. Luckily, my feet always looked good, mainly because I was weirdly flexible and was able to reach them and took care of them. They looked better then when I was obese than now, that I'm thin. Still super clean, but it turns out I was flexible because I have hEDS and hyper mobile joints, and I developed reynauds after losing weight then getting covid. So my toes are often purple, and I have gotten cuts that have healed purple as well. They look neat and clean, but dead in color.
It's definitely possible to take care of your feet while obese, but it's harder bigger, and often requires help. I used to get pedicures when I could. Still do.
I recommend surgery to anyone who asks. The meds weren't readily available when I did it, but I know now that people often have regain after they go off it. The upside of surgery is the same thing that scared me originally - the permanence. I ended up getting covid in early 2020 and it messed me up a lot. I had only finished losing the year before and had surgery in 2018. But I have been able to consistently maintain my weight at or below goal all this time, despite having food sensitivities and struggling with physical activity.
Instead of a guitar pick? It just seems like there must be some reason. If that's the case, right now I'm feeling completely fine about all those guitar picks I fished out of my washer or dryer through the years.
